It is important to get rid of hemorrhoids even though they aren’t life threatening in most cases because of the pain they cause and misery that they bring. The good news is, there are many safe and natural remedies for external hemorrhoid treatment that you probably have available in your kitchen.

Witch hazel is one of these cures. Refrigerate it to cool it down, then using cotton wool, dab the solution on the hemorrhoid. Apply this three times a day and you’ll find it works well with external hemorrhoids. The use of ice packs to reduce swelling is another method. You can also use Aloe Vera, which is famous for its medicinal properties and is safe to apply directly onto the hemorrhoid for itch relief.

Try changing up your diet as well. To help promote smoother bowl movements, eat more fruits and vegetables for fiber intake. The smoother your stool, the less irritating it is on your hemorrhoids when passing through. Try to stay away from laxatives because it makes stools watery and could infect your hemorrhoids. To help complement your fiber intake, be sure to drink plenty of water. You can prevent, or even eliminate hemorrhoids by taking in more citrus, such as oranges, which are high in bioflavonoids and that will help build stronger blood vessels. Hemorrhoids are a result of swollen blood vessels so this is very helpful. Avoid eating excessive cheese due to the lactic acid which actually worsens the condition. Alcohol and caffeine should be avoided as well.

By beginning a small exercise routine along with a healthy diet, you can prevent future hemorrhoids. Try not to over exert in your exercises, such as weight lifting, for it could strain hemorrhoids and cause bleeding. Another exercise that could be more painful than helpful is cycling, especially if the seat paddle is incorrectly fitted.

Sitz baths are also excellent for external use in relieving the itch. You can also use over the counter hemorrhoid creams to relieve swelling or get rid of them all together. To help make you more comfortable while sitting, special cushions are available.

Even though surgical methods or injections can remove hemorrhoids, you run certain risks, not to mention it could be highly expensive. It is advised to talk to your doctor about your hemorrhoids before making any decisions, even if surgery is inevitable. The above methods are a very effective form of external hemorrhoid treatment and will work effectively for reducing the swelling of hemorrhoids, on top of eliminating them naturally as long as the problem isn’t severe.
