External Hemorrhoid Treatment
How to treat hemorrhoids: First off, do not ignore your hemorrhoids or be embarrassed by them. If you are having pain, itching, pressure or bleeding you need to discuss this condition with your doctor. It should not be kept secret, as these symptoms can point to other conditions in addition to hemorrhoids. If it is a hemorrhoid, you are risking an infection, but if it is not a hemorrhoid it could be a serious condition, like a cancer.
Keep the area around the hemorrhoid dry and clean as far as you can. Keep a log, diary or chart to determine what irritates your hemorrhoids. You may discover triggers such as irritating foods, or dehydration. Getting constipated may cause a great deal of discomfort and can cause a flare up of your hemorrhoids. If you know what your setting events are, then you are halfway to avoiding them. Be sure to drink plenty of water and eat fruits and vegetables that have lots of fiber.
It cannot be said often enough, see your doctor. Hemorrhoids that receive early treatment also get early relief from the discomforts of external or thrombosed hemorrhoids. Until you see your doctor there are many self care remedies and natural hemorrhoid treatments you can access. Sit in a warm bath for fifteen minutes at a time, or place an ice pack wrapped in towels on the rectal area for about ten minutes at a time. There are medicated suppositories that provide symptom relief, and herbs that strengthen the veins and promote good smooth muscle contractions when taken orally or used as a compress or to wash with. Medicated pads or unscented baby wipes are also good to use for cleaning and relieving the pain and itching. Thrombosed hemorrhoids are painful, but can be dealt with through natural remedies. Do not delay to seek relief. Sometimes you may have to consider surgery, but the alternative of constant pain and irritation is not acceptable.
